Kia Pregio – breaking new ground
Kia Pregio panel van breaks new ground in the South African light
commercial vehicle market by combining diesel power with a high level of
sophistication, which the company predicts will give it a major share of
the light delivery vehicle market sector.
Pregio breaks ground in more ways than one. Not only does it combine
diesel power and economy with a high level of sophistication, it also sets
new standards with a high level of operator comfort and safety.
2,7-litre J2 diesel engine is designed and built by Kia and has in a short
space of time gained an enviable reputation in Korea for reliable and
durable performance in commercial vehicles. Its peak power outputs are 62
kW and 175 Nm of torque (at 2400 rpm), enabling it to carry a full 1 000
kg load. The 5-speed manual transmission has a locking clutch mechanism
which provides for positive and light gear changing.

a smooth ride and good road holding due to the combination of a coil
spring/gas suspension with an energy absorbing monocoque body design and
ventilated front disc brakes fitted with a tandem master cylinder. The
consistently smooth ride under empty or fully laden conditions is ensured
by the two-stage multi-leaf suspension fitted to the rear.

intermittent windscreen wipers, durable cloth upholstery, a headlamp
levelling switch, headrests and a fold down centre seat to provide ample
table space for working or eating, hot and cool airflow with a fan and a
load area light override switch, an ergonomically designed instrument
panel that puts all controls within easy reach.
spacious load area is accessible through a wide opening rear tailgate and
a sliding side door. The load box is 755 mm long, 1615 mm wide and 1365 mm
high, allowing for a wide variety in the shapes and configurations of
loads that can be carried. The reinforced body and securely locking
tailgate and side sliding door also provide a high degree of security for
the cargo and the operator.
