Renault brings French flair to the light commercial sector,  with a range of accessories that'll ensure its "just you".

What Renault have achieved in the local passenger car market, they seem set to repeat in the light commercial sector with the introduction of  the innovative, versatile Kangoo minivan.

The attractively styled Kangoo Express with innovative features, and 800 kg and 3m payload, has no direct competitors in the local commercial vehicle market, and the company expects to sell approximately 100 units per month.  

“The Kangoo offers a level of versatility unrivalled in the local light van sector,” says Manny de Canha, CEO of Renault distributors Imperial Car Imports.

  “We have identified a definite gap in the market for a vehicle of the Kangoo’s nature – it’s ideal for a wide range of small- to medium-sized enterprises, and we believe it can repeat the success it has enjoyed in Europe, where it has been the best-selling small van for the past three years.”

For South Africa, the Kangoo Express will be powered by a development of the fuel injected 1.4 l K7J engine used in the Megane and Clio ranges with maximum power output of 55 kW at 5 500 revs/min and maximum torque of 114 Nm at 2 800 revs/min. Drive is to the front wheels via Renault’s type JB five-speed manual gearbox.

 The standard equipment list includes height-adjustable head restraints, internally adjustable wide view exterior mirrors, remote central locking, tinted windows and power steering.  Upholstery is NAO imitation leather, and the floor is covered in a hard-wearing, easy to clean polyurethane material.

 Air-conditioning and a heat-reflective windscreen will be available as an option, along with an integrated cassette/receiver with satellite controls on the steering column.

 On the safety front, the Kangoo has a driver’s airbag as standard, and is also fitted with three-point inertia safety belts and Renault’s "Programmed Restraint System".   The doors of the Kangoo have anti-intrusion reinforcements and contain foam padding, while the arched form of the B-pillars allows their deformation while minimising the risk of head injury.  An inertia switch cuts off the flow of fuel to the engine in the event of a collision, minimising the risk of fire.

 A transponder immobilizer, rotating door lock barrels and shrouded internal door linkages help ensure good anti-theft protection. 

  For owners who need to add even more versatility to their Kangoo, Renault offers a comprehensive range of accessories tailor made for perfect fit and functionality:

 Roof Carrier & Roof Bars: Both have a load limit of 100 kg and are easy to attach.  The carrier is of steel tubular construction with polyester paint, while the roof bars have a black PVC coating.
