Volkswagen Microbus Active

VW Bus becomes an Active favourite

To maintain its position as a lifestyle vehicle of choice,  has introduced a new round of innovations to the Bus range - including the addition of a special edition Microbus 2.6i Active crammed with new features.

There can be few lifestyle vehicles that have captured the hearts and minds of the South African public in the manner of Volkswagen's Bus range. For more than three decades - through successive model changes - Volkswagen's people carrier has remained a vehicle of choice for families large and small.

In its latest round of upgrades to the Bus range, VWSA has replaced the Caravelle Exclusiv – a vehicle that was one of the first in the country to feature two rear-facing seats and a cooler box as innovations - with the Microbus 2.6i Active. The Active includes a number of new features designed to improve comfort and convenience, confirming Volkswagen's drive for greater value-for-money.

The revised Bus range consists of four models - the Microbus 2.3i, Microbus 2.6i, Caravelle 2.6i and the special edition Microbus 2.6i Active.

New standard features across the range include improved interior lighting in the luggage area and a roof-mounted high-level brake light.  To an already full list of well-appointed features a number of additional lifestyle enhancers have been added to the Active and the Caravelle. The Active shares the addition of a rear luggage net with the Caravelle in the latest upgrades, along with standard head restraints on the centre and rear bench, a useful storage tray under the centre bench and, carried over from the Exclusiv, a cooler box under the centre bench.

Over and above all this the Active also now has side steps on both sides of the vehicle as well as a CD player as standard.

The Active is powered by the same 2.6 litre, 100 kW five-cylinder powerplant that is also found in the Microbus 2.6i and the Caravelle 2.6i.

All Bus models are covered by Volkswagen's three year/120 000 km warranty.
